Family Legal Secretary:-

Full time – flexible hours considered

Salary on experience

Immediate start

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Word processing/audio typing using digital dictation.

Answering the telephone/taking detailed messages.

Preparing Court bundles

Instructing Counsel as directed by your supervisor.

Filing

Manage and negotiate the legal aid CCMS system.

Use the firm’s case management system in place ensuring that diary dates are observed.

Liaising with clients when required and managing their requests.

Sending and receiving e-mails when required.

Liaising with other professionals.

Any other duties are consistent with the general scope of the job.

Person Specification

Knowledge/experience /skills required to fill the position

Legal secretarial experience within family practice essential.

Basic knowledge and understanding of legal aid scope and application process.

Competent in the use of word processing equipment and possess a willingness to develop ICT skills and utilise new technology.

Display a courteous, helpful, telephone manner, being competent to receive some telephone instructions from clients and to give case updates, when authorised.

Family Solicitor:-

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Attend on clients, taking instructions and acting upon the same.

Using delegated powers where appropriate.

Meet relevant quality and professional standards.

Advocacy

Briefing Counsel where necessary.

Use and comply with the online CCMS system.

Keep up to date with Family Law, attend seminars and comply with the firms training requirements.

Use the firm’s case management system in place ensuring that diary dates are observed.

Composing letters for dictation including files notes/telephone notes etc.

General administration tasks in relation to individual file management.

Other tasks as requested

Person Specification

Knowledge/experience /skills required to fill the position

Experience as a fee earner in Family Law.

Experience in advising clients, attending court including advocacy.

Able to prioritise and manage own and others workload.

Knowledge and experience of working with the Legal Aid Agency.

Ability to work as part of a team

Display a courteous, helpful, telephone manner, being competent to receive some telephone instructions from clients and to give case updates.

Able to acquire knowledge of the firm’s structure, administration system, ethics and procedures as set out in the firm’s manual and to put that knowledge to practical use in the adoption of those procedures.
